Chest Harness
Having a collection of knots and ties is a must in any Rigger’s repertoire. As a rope bunny (rope bottom), I really enjoy the feeling of rope, so I am delighted the MLSlavepuppet.com has come up with a new Rope meme called #TiemeupTuesday. Unfortunately, I missed the first week, but Mister K and I made the time to complete week 2 – The chest harness. To see the tutorial, or to check out MLSlavepuppet’s site click here.
We choose the Shinju style as we already knew how to do the star harness. Mister K tried two different types of rope for this challenge. The first was a cotton rope, becasue it’s braided and tends to hold up to being twisted better, in our experience. It worked well but doesn’t move freely over the skin the way polypropylene rope does. Also, cotton rope stretches and that can make the rope come loose during play. Not desirable for him. The result was quite beautiful though.
Next, we used a 3/8 poly-propropylene rope. This is twisted instead of braided, but is smooth on the skin and holds up well when used in play. The rope doesn’t move once tied and leaves wonderful marks behind when removed. Knotting the ends can be a little more difficult due to the bulkiness of this type of rope, but it does give you a reason to be creative in hiding those loose ends. We wrapped them around the top band and made it a little wider.
Mister K loves a good challenge and stopping at one rope just wasn’t enough for him. The last harness was completed with two ropes, one black and one red. Both were cotton but the final effect is wonderful.
