Hi, My name is…more than a pen name

I’ve always wondered how other writers have created their pen name. The personas we give ourselves become a part of who we are, and inform others what our minds contain. They’re as important as the name we’re given the day we’re born, and yet, they apprise others of what WE need them to say.

How I created my pen name

MrsK seems like it may stand for Mrs kink, and I suppose in a way it does. While brainstorming what my vision of what LOAKW would look like, I originally didn’t have a name. I am a submissive, Mister K my Dom and Master, and therefore my name seemed quite irrelevant. Life of a Kinky Wife was originally simply about my submission and life as a wife. It was never intended to be more. Outside of that I didn’t envision needing anything more. But we take our true selves with us wherever we go and so, eventually I released my love of fiction.

Where submissives may not need a title, fiction writers need a name of their own. So, in desiring to stick with the kink theme and still show that I was married, I decided on MrsK.

All a Name can Contain

MrsK isn’t a pen name. Not really. It is who I am as a wife, submissive and lover. MrsK is the name I took when I married and therefore my real name. Of course, I removed a few hard to pronounce, Mediterranean descended letters to keep a small portion of anonymity. But MrsK is who I am, or rather, who I have become.

Due to the content of Life of a Kinky Wife, I knew it was a risk using my real name. I recognised that I could potentially be setting myself up for discovery and with that, exposure. And while part of me wanted to hide my husband and Dom, my children, and family away from any impending backlash, knowing that eventually the true me would come out anyway, I chose to keep it real.

Hi, my name is MrsK. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

  1. It was very interesting to discover the origin of your pen name. I have always liked it. It doth trip off the tongue.I chose Cousin Pons because he is old like me and is a creation of Balzac, one of my favourite writers.

    1. Good choice. I often wonder how people chose what they will be called. I love that you name supports literature and something you enjoy;)

    1. Yes, my married name starts with a K and that is how MrsK came to be.
Now that I know it’s confusing, I will fix it to be less so.
      Thank You 🙂

I'd love to hear from you!
