Where There’s Smoke…

Where There’s Smoke…

Birthdays are felt and celebrated very differently depending on who you ask. I know people who celebrate for a whole week and some, like Mister K, that think it’s just another day. Personally, I believe that you should get a day to celebrate your birth and the revolution of another year around the sun. Many don’t receive the gift of a long life, and I think birthdays should be embraced and revered as the blessing they are.

I woke up in the morning with a sense of urgency, like something big was supposed to happen, or I was due somewhere. I think this was just the excitement of a birthday. As children, we were probably more likely to get caught up in it and recognize it as what it was. As the day progressed and I realized that this would not be the occasion that it usually is, my enthusiasm waned. Not one to let me wallow in self-pity, Mister K did what he does best, stepped up to the plate.

This year, my birthday wouldn’t have celebrations with extended family or hugs from friends. No drinks at a favorite pub or elaborate meals, but Mister K found a way to make it memorable, as he so often does.

Happy Birthday little girl. Make a wish.

  1. Happy birthday to you. I hope you had a good day even though it was not what you expected. My birthday is looming and so be honest I am totally dreading it because I had such lovely plans for it this year and now they just can’t happen
