The lightening Harness was invented by Midori. If you don’t know who she is, here is a link to her biography. For the sake of this post, I’ll just say that she’s a sex educator and presentor who specialises in Shibari and Bondage. She’s a really quirky lady and I love her videos. It’s on my bucket-list to see her perform or instruct live.
Her video tutorial for the lightening harness is quite humorous and I love her ability to make the tutorial interactive. Many tutorials lack this personal touch.
Mister K and I enjoy adding inspiration to rope-work. The lightening Harness was no different.
For this tie we used 2- 3/8″ cotton ropes, one in black the other purple.
Mister K decided to secure my arms into the lightening harness, but avoided my elbows to ensure my joints weren’t experiencing unwanted pressure. The back of this harness sits flat and allows the ability for the rigger to place the wearer in a prone position, without knots digging into the spine. It’s amazing how well this holds up to pulling, tugging and suspension, but is super easy to remove. If you had trouble with self tying this harness, try using a chopstick on each bite to hold your rope in place. Carabiner’s work well too!
We also wanted to do something with the Karada Dress. Using the fundamentals of the tie, we created our own version.
In a previous post, called All Dressed Up, that was done for What to wear to a party, for MlSlavepuppets #TiemeupTuesday meme, I talk about Rope being the entire outfit. We used the Karada Dress for our tying structure.
This time for the Karada Dress, I asked Mister K to make me some lingerie. Not one to disappoint, he exceeded my expectations (once again)!
This harness was super comfortable and I didn’t want to take it off. I wore if for a couple hours after our scene and thought it was more comfortable that half the lingerie I own. I think the red and black looked really great together and the artistic touches and symmetry made it super alluring.
For this we used 2-3/8″ cotton ropes. We chose cotton because I would be wearing it for an extended amount of time and the Karada Dress needs the stretch.
Please make sure you have safety scissors with you at all times when doing rope play or bondage, and that ropes should be snug, not overly tight. Most importatnly, have fun!
Happy tying!

I am really enjoying your rope pictures so much! xox
It’s interesting how the lighting harness looks when your arms are tied in too. I really like it, though I can’t explain why.
The way you’re combining the colours, very evenly, makes me want to try something like this out too, but I might not be good enough at rope for the moment, haha.
It’s so interesting to hear that this harness was so comfortable. I think, wearing that, I would feel so good and happy about myself. Rope has that effect somehow.
I would have slept in it, had Mister K not asked how I planned to remove it without his assistance. LOL!
I really love the color combos too 🙂
Haha! 😛
Nice rope play. You look delightful in rope! I loved that Midori video too!
I’d wear rope everyday if it didnt take so long to tie and the neighbours wouldn’t stare (not that I’d mind much). Midori is a talented lady!
xo
Love both of these ties and the colour combinations as well! Makes me itch to get into some tying again.
Thank you! Self tying is the theme for #Tiemeup Tueday 🙂
