Stirrups and Heel Ties
I’m always excited to find ways to wear rope. This time around for MLSlavepuppet‘s Tie Me Up Tuesday prompt-Heel Ties, we even got to add shoes. Rope and shoes, two very underrated items, in my humble opinion.
Mister K liked this prompt because not only did he get to tie me up, he also got to tie me in place. If you’re rope is longer than the suggested 2m (6.5ft), you’ll have rope left over. Mister K decided to use it to his advantage, tying me to the bed, somewhat shackled. I can’t say that I had any complaints.
You can find tutorials for The Top Weave here and the Stirrup Style here. Please be aware that you do not need shoes to use these ties, I just love a reason to wear stilletos 🙂
Both ties were very elegant in appearance, although I found the top weave to be very full looking, where as the stirrup style was thinner and worked better for my tastes. That being said, it has a knot that sticks out on both sides of the ankle. While it wasn’t overly uncomfortable due to the cotton rope, a tougher stranded rope would have began to dig into the skin eventually. So, maybe it’s great for style, but not being shackled long term. Although if it’s being used for shackles, comfort is probably not high on the priority list 🙂
While these are pretty and somewhat functional, I wanted to share another heel tie used for stirrups during rope play and Shibari. I have also seen these used for suspension (but I’m unsure how this works, so please do not attempt it). The stirrup that I choose is from Two Knotty Boys: Back on the ropes – pg 36-37. Known as the Cat’s-Paw Stirrup, it can be used as a simple tie with or without shoes (although without shoes the single strand could dig into the Achilles tendon and cause long term damage, so please use caution) or it can be elaborated on to make the Cat’s-Paw on Bare Foot. The cat’s-Paw on Barefoot is a very secure tie that will keep even the squirmiest (I’m not sure this is a word, but for today, it is) of bottoms secured in place.
All of these ties are fairly simple and don’t require a lot of practice to get them right, perfect for first timers, or those just wanting to brush up on their skills. As well, because they are so easy to remember they are great additions to any riggers rope arsenal, or for the self-tyer.
Please remember that ropes should be snug, but not tight and to always have safety scissors at hand. Rope can be replaced, people can’t.
Most importantly, have fun!
If these bi-weekly posts just aren’t enough and you’d like to learn more, please reach out on FetLife to the Riggers and Rope Sluts group (you need to have an account). Here you’ll find tutorials, have questions answered and hopefully find something that you love to do.

“Rope and shoes, two very underrated items, in my humble opinion.” Ha, I couldn’t agree more!
I looove that you love a reason to wear stilettos hehe! We should totally go to a party together someday ;P
The cat’s paw barefoot looks so pretty. That might be my favourite version of a foot tie o:
I really like how you try all these different things and share it with us. It’s very educational and helpful.
I’m also going to check out the fetlife group!
I hope you do, Fet has many great groups for rope and other things 🙂
Educational is good, helpful is too 🙂
